Pharmacy First Services
Pharmacy First is an NHS service that encourages patients to visit their local pharmacy first instead of going to their GP for a range of conditions which can be assessed and treated by pharmacists.
The 7 conditions that are covered and the eligible patients that can access *free advice and treatment for include:
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infection - (for women age 16 to under 64 years with suspected lower UTIs)
- Infected Insect Bites (for adults and children aged 1 year and over)
- Acute Sore Throat (for adults and children aged 5 years and over)
- Acute Otitis Media (for children aged 1 to 17 years)
- Acute Sinusitis (for adults and children aged 12 years and over)
- Shingles (for adults aged 18 years and over)
- Impetigo (non-bullous impetigo, for adults and children aged 1 year and over)
* The above listed treatment is free and paid by the NHS, however if the pahrmacist prescribes a medicine for the presented condition included above, those who pay for their NHS prescriptions will be charged exactly the same amount equal to the prescription fee for the item received.
